Doug graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto in 1991 and was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1993.  He has defended clients throughout Ontario and Quebec for 27 years and counting.  Doug doesn’t work for a large law firm.  He doesn’t employ a team of junior lawyers.  When you hire Doug, you don’t get your case assigned to a junior lawyer - you get Doug.  When you call Doug, at any time of day, you don’t get an answering service, you don’t get a secretary – you get Doug.  Doug knows that your case is probably the single most important event in your life and he knows you need help.  He is there to help.

Over the years, Doug has successfully defended persons, both adults and youths, in all levels of Court who are charged with all kinds of criminal offences, including:

  • Theft

  • Drug Offences

  • Impaired Driving

  • First and Second-Degree Murder

  • Fraud

  • Forgery

  • Proceeds/Property Crimes

  • Sexual Offences

  • Kidnapping

  • Firearm Offences

  • Gaming Houses

  • Break and Enter

To Doug, all cases, from shoplifting to murder, are equally serious and all are deserving of the same level of commitment.   Doug is a criminal trial lawyer.  He doesn’t do real estate law or family law or business law.  He does one thing – criminal defence.   Doug’s unique experience has taught him that sometimes the facts of a case call for a passive. patient and indulgent approach.  Other times, a case may require a tough and aggressive approach.    Doug can help you determine the right approach for your case to help you reach a successful conclusion.  Doug has learned over his career that when a person is arrested and charged, it is based on ALLEGATIONS and not facts.  Doug knows that people – INCLUDING POLICE OFFICERS – can lie or misstate the facts for a variety of reasons.  This is why you need an experienced trial lawyer like Doug in your corner.   Doug’s experience gives him the tools to determine the appropriate strategy to employ in your case from start to finish.
